Could you give up your email?

I am a little behind on my blog reading (so stop me if you have heard this one already) but a New York Times article (click here) talks about President-Elect Obama most likely having to give up his Blackberry because pretty much everything he will do as President is public record.

Not try to get political at all but I'm not so sure I could give up my Blackberry, Thinkpad, Twitter or Facebook accounts, etc.

Looks like I won't be President anytime soon ;)

Protecting family email addresses

I found an article on Freep.com that talks about Bloomfield Hills Public Schools struggle with keeping family email addresses private. (article here)

While St. Regis doesn't have to acknowledge Freedom of Information requests like a Public School district might, the article still raises some issues that are worth thinking about. Although no "formal" policy exists, I can say that St. Regis doesn't release any information obtained by parishoners or school families unless permission is granted by the family.

Website of the month: Kalla

Although there is no official contest, we have received several comments as to the good work being done on Ms. Kalla's website. Christine is a 5th grade teacher at our school and like all teachers is using WordPress for her classroom website.

Her page is updated every couple of days. She has a separate page for each subject that contains information about the topics that are being covered. She also uses her site to display reminders for upcoming events and assignments, test and quizes.

For an example page that demonstrates the weekly schedule, click here.

In addition to great information, Christine's site has the highest time on page statistic of any classroom teacher.

first smartboard video

Deanna was brave enough to volunteer to be the subject of our first smartboard video. The video is short (and I am a terrible editor with FCP). More videos to come from other teachers in the near future.
