Tiny laptop for students
I just finished reading an article on USAToday.com [article].
The article talked about a new breed of kid-sized laptops at an affordable price.

There aren't a lot of details yet but it looks like there would be no hard drive or disk drives (less for students to break) and at under $500, it could be perfect for a laptop cart program!
Student email ready to go
Today 5-7 grade students received a packet of information about the new student email program [in case you missed it].
Each student will receive an email address (@students.stregis.org) which will allow them to communicate with teachers, other students and pre-approved experts (NASA astronauts, historians, etc.).
We have been gathering questions that students and parents have been asking about the email program and we will post some of the useful ones later. You can see the Gaggle.net brochure for some information about the email program [brochure].
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
SMARTBoard pictures
As promised, here are some pictures of our SMARTBoards in action:

Jen is using Google Earth to show the students an aerial shot of St. Regis, the students tried to guess when the image was captured based on where cars are parked, if students are on the playground and shadow locations!
