The third graders are learning Word Processing. We use a program called Scholastic Keys to introduce basic word processing commands. Scholastic Keys is a kid-version of Microsoft Word. Students are learning how to insert, delete, change font, change font size, center text, and add clip art. It is a lot of fun and very challenging!

Big news in Grade 2! The students in second grade are learning word processing!. We use a program called Scholastic Keys to introduce basic word processing commands. Scholastic Keys is a kid-version of Microsoft Word. Students are learning how to insert, delete, change font, change font size, center text, and add clip art. It is a lot of fun and very challenging!

The first graders have been working very hard in the computer lab. Every week we type our spelling and vocabulary words. This gives students the opportuntiy to begin using the keyboard to type as well as practice their weekly words. They are doing an excellent job. We also started playing Word Munchers. This game allows students to practice identifying beginning and ending sounds while playing a very fun game.

This week the kindergarten students practiced their ABC at a the website Play Kids Games. My favorite game is whack a mole. What is your child’s? We also made S pictures. Using Kid Pix we found pictures of stars, suns, Saturn, and silverware. The children are doing a great job!

The students in 5th grade have finished thier Saint research and have returned to word processing. We use the program Microsoft Word 2007 in the lab. Students had to format a document this week. They changed fonts, text color, font size, as well as doing some centering, underlining, and bolding.

The kindergarten students are learning about a new program this week. Kid Pix! Kid Pix is my favorite piece of commercial software. It is very cool. This week students made a Letter of the Week Picture. Mrs. Hammaker’s class made A pictures. We found pictures of arrows, apples, ants, and anchors. Ms. Vaentine’s class will find stamps that start with the letter D. I wonder if we will find any dragons or dogs. Students were able to print their pictures when finished to take home for Mom and Dad to see.

The 4th graders are going to be learning Power Point. We are going to do an “All About Me” presentation.

The 3rd graders have been working on Water in Science. We drew diagrams of the Water Cycle using Kid Pix. To see some samples please click on Projects

The second graders have worked very hard in computer class. Ms. M told me the students were learning the parts of a plant in science class. In computer class we used the program Kid Pix to create diagrams of a plant. All of the students did a wonderful job. Click on the Projects page to see some samples.

The seventh graders are working with Excel. They created a worksheet, formatted it, and created formulas.
